History in the Making

On what would be Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s 97th birthday, we celebrate a milestone that embodies his vision and fulfills Mayor Maynard Jackson’s transformative legacy.

For the first time in Atlanta’s history, two Black-owned general contractors, H.J. Russell & Company and FS 360, LLC, have been awarded a public-sector project of as the joint venture prime team.

This is what progress looks like. This is the legacy Mayor Jackson built. This is Dr. King’s dream realized.

The Project: Building on Sacred Ground

The $25 million John A. White Golf Course & Senior Activity Center transformation will create a state-of-the-art, 29,000-square-foot multipurpose facility serving Southwest Atlanta, including:

• Atlanta’s first dedicated senior activity center with wellness programs and community spaces
• Modernized golf center with pro shop, simulators, and full-service restaurant
• Conference and event spaces for the broader Southwest Atlanta community
• Enhanced facilities for First Tee’s youth character development programs

This watershed moment brings together:

• The Russell-FS 360 joint venture leadership team
• Subcontractors and suppliers across all trades
• NAMC of Greater Atlanta members
• Industry partners and community stakeholders
