ABOUT THIS SCHOLARSHIP
Arthur J. Queen came into this industry as a glass glazier. He left it as a company chairman, a chapter leader, and NAMC President Emeritus. That arc, from the trade to the table where decisions get made, is the reason this scholarship carries his name.
We award $2,500 each year to a student pursuing a degree in architecture, engineering, or construction. The funds go directly to your institution for tuition and fees. But the award is not only money. Recipients are introduced to a chapter of more than 160 member firms, recognized in front of the people who run them, and carried forward by an organization that has been opening doors in this industry since 1969.
Our Greater Atlanta Chapter was chartered in 1984, built by contractors who intended that the next generation would not have to start where they started. This scholarship is how we keep that promise.

ELIGIBILITY
You are eligible to apply if you:
Have completed at least one (1) full academic year and have at least one (1) full academic year remaining before you graduate.
Are enrolled at an accredited college, university, or trade school in architecture, engineering (civil, mechanical, structural, electrical, or related), construction (trade, management), or a closely related program.
Are in good academic standing at the time of application.
Awards are paid directly to your institution. No funds are disbursed to individuals.

Everything is submitted online. There is no packet to assemble, no PDF to compile, and no email to send.

Your current resume, listing all work and volunteer experience
An official or unofficial transcript from each post-secondary school you have attended
Your current class schedule
One essay
A headshot
The name and institutional email of one recommender (a professor, academic advisor, or counselor)
About the resume. List everything: paid jobs, unpaid work, internships, family business experience, volunteer service, student organizations, certifications, and honors. If you have never written one, that is fine and it will not count against you. A clean one-page list of what you have done and when you did it is all we need.
About the headshot. Recipients are published in our newsletter, announced to our membership, and photographed receiving the award. We collect the photo up front so that nothing has to be chased down after the announcement. A clear, well-lit photo from the shoulders up is enough; it does not need to be taken by a professional.
You do not need to chase down a signature. When you submit, we email your recommender a short confirmation form directly. Give them at least a week before the deadline.
